Combining padel tournaments: frequently asked questions

Can I play two national padel tournaments in the same week?

No Unfortunately. You can only participate in one tournament that counts for the national padel ranking. But if you play multiple tournaments that don't count towards the padel rankings, that's no problem. Just remember to check with the tournament organizers prior to the tournaments to see if it's feasible.

Can I play a national padel tournament and a FIP tournament in the same week?

Yes that is allowed. But you are responsible for meeting your obligations at both parks. Therefore, always contact the tournament organizations to see if it is feasible.

I am still active in both tournaments, so it is not possible to play both tournaments. What now?

If you cannot fulfill your obligations at one of the two tournaments, please unsubscribe from that tournament as soon as possible. For example, if you played your way through the qualification of a FIP tournament on Thursday and Friday and therefore cannot play in the main schedule of the national tournament on Saturday. Report this immediately so that you are not included in the draw for the main schedule.

Can a player play two national padel tournaments in one week?

Can a player play two national padel tournaments in the same week?

Players are only allowed to play one part in one tournament week that counts for the national padel ranking. When it comes to parts that do not count for the padel ranking, it is possible to play several tournaments in a week. However, players must do so in accordance with both tournament organizations.

What if a player is still active in both tournaments?

If it turns out that a player is unable to fulfill his/her obligations in one of the two tournaments, that person must cancel his/her registration from one of the two tournaments as soon as possible before the draw. For example, if the player has played through qualifying for a FIP tournament on Thursday and Friday, he/she will not be able to play in the main schedule of the national tournament on Saturday. Then the player must inform the organization as soon as possible, so that he/she can be withdrawn before the draw.

How can I, as a tournament director, take this into account as well as possible?

It is useful to discuss the (im)possibilities with the players, so that you get an idea of whether it is realistic that the player can fulfill his/her responsibilities in both tournaments. In addition, it is wise to do the draw (of the main schedule in particular) as late as possible. This way you can still process any withdrawals on Friday before you do the draw for the following day.

Should I allow players to play elsewhere while also participating in my tournament?

Although it is not stipulated anywhere that this is not allowed, players are free to play two tournaments at the same time. But this requires a lot of flexibility from tournament organizations. If you think this is not feasible at your tournament, you can include in the tournament regulations that you do not accept players who also play another tournament.

Conclusion

Now you know that the International Padel Federation (IPF) does a lot for the sport and is constantly working on internationalizing padel and developing national federations.

Probably THE reason you are now thinking about playing padel or maybe already is due to the Federation itself!
