What should you pay attention to when choosing football accessories?
There's a lot on the market when it comes to American football accessories, and sports accessories in general.
How do you know which products you really need? And which are the best?
I play American football intensively myself and will take you along with the various items that I like to use, or even consider indispensable for the game.
Sleeve
If you are looking for arm protection for American football, you can choose from three different models, namely arm sleeves, arm shivers and elbow sleeves.
Quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and defensive backs are the players with whom you will most often see a sleeve.
Besides that it looks great, a sleeve also offers extra protection. Sleeves are made to avoid the risk of injuries and injuries.
Compression sleeves give your muscles extra support and allow the blood to circulate well.
Your arms are constantly exposed on the pitch, so it's important to protect yourself as best you can.
Whether you mainly run or tackle the ball, your arms can get injured.

Mouthguard
The main purpose of a mouthguard is of course to protect the teeth from injuries and impact.

Glare can obscure your view and cost you decision time during intense gaming moments.
Andrew Farkas, the first player in the NFL to wear black face paint in 1942, swore that it not only reduced glare but also increased contrast recognition, making it easier to track the ball.
The eye black that you can buy today is made of organic materials and available in multiple colors.
Eye black marker: how do you use it?
You can buy Eye black in the form of a marker.
To use eye black, remove the cap from the pen and start on the outside of one cheekbone, just below the rim of the eye socket.
Draw a line across your cheek and finish close to the bridge of your nose. Make the line you draw about one to two centimeters long.
Repeat on the other side. Try to equalize both sides!
You may have to go back and forth a few times to get a solid line of black.
Removing this make-up should not cause any problems.
In general, you can get it off with an alcohol wipe, makeup wipe, or cotton wool dipped in alcohol, but always follow the directions on the product package.
Eye black decals

You hang these types of towels around your waist by means of a belt. Make sure to choose a towel that dries quickly; because when your towel is dry, so will your hands.
Gloves
Using skill positions, such as running backs, receivers and defensive backs gloves to have more control over the ball.
Linemen use them for extra protection and warmth. Gloves are optional, but highly recommended and still used by most players.
Viewfinder
The main reason for buying a visor is to block the sunlight and all other harmful light.
Some athletes use it to keep dirt out of their eyes or to prevent opponents from poking their eyes with fingers.
When choosing your visor, fit is of utmost importance. Not all visors are compatible with every helmet, so keep that in mind.
It's also good to know that not just all visors are allowed in the different leagues, so consult your coaches before buying one.
You can choose from a transparent visor or a tinted version. There are also visors with different lenses, for example anti-glare.
Try some visors to see if your entire field of view remains clearly visible.
A visor is super cool and can offer extra protection against the sun, but also protect the eyes against external objects.
In addition, the opponent cannot read your eyes, making it more difficult to predict your movements.
skull cap
Sweat can feel annoying in your helmet. Fortunately, there are skull caps, which are designed to fit snugly on your head and easily in your helmet.
They're made from lightweight, breathable materials to help keep you cool and dry.
Suppose you are in the final phase of the match and the next action match is decisive. The coach is counting on your abilities.
The last thing you want is for sweat to cloud your vision and your game.

There are different types of tape. Roughly speaking, you can choose between traditional tape and athletic tape.
Traditional tape
Traditional tape is used to hold muscles or bones in a certain position. This is mainly used near joints, such as ankles, wrists and hands.
This extra support can help prevent sprains, fractures, or other injuries.
The taping of cleats also known as 'spattering'. It is primarily used to help players reduce the risk of spraining their ankles while playing.
It can also help support a player's ankle for better exercise and coordination when running.
In addition, some players just like the idea that their cleats are more secure and less likely to come loose during a match.
However, you want to make sure the tape isn't too tight – otherwise you'll restrict your ankle movement – while tape that's too loose will have little or no effect.
Ideally, you should use stretch tape for taping your ankles.
This tape stretches to form around your foot, so that you not only get a neater result, but also experience more comfort and the tape does not become a very thick layer.
However, don't forget to check your league's rules beforehand to make sure splashing is allowed.

Kinesiology tape can also be used for rehabilitation, but in a different way than traditional tape.
By promoting blood flow in the injured area, the athletic tape reduces swelling, which in turn reduces pain.
The elasticity of the athletic tape can also serve as support for the affected muscles.
It naturally returns to its original position, which takes some of the workload off the muscle.

You can also carry your gear loose in your hand, and transport the rest of your belongings in the sports bag.
It is useful to take into account the layout of the sports bag.
Do you choose one with several subjects?
Then at least you don't have to worry about your (stinky!) shoes hitting your food, for example – and you can keep your things neatly separated, but transport them all in one bag.
A separate shoe compartment is also welcome, as are pockets for your keys and wallet.
Take a bag with a padded strap and handles, so that you can carry the bag comfortably and not get your hands and shoulders sore.
Also look at the closure of the bag; your belongings must remain neat and safe in the bag. A zipper is always the best solution.
Last but not least: you have to like the design.

Football helmet pump
With a helmet pump you can inflate or deflate the air cushions in your helmet.

How does a helmet pump work? Place the helmet on your head and have someone else inflate the air cushions.
Make sure you first lubricate the needle with, for example, glycerine. Do not use petroleum-based products and do not wet the needle with your mouth.
Do not force the needle into the hole; this allows the opposing wall of the liner to be pierced.
Start with the bottom hole at the back of the helmet. This is where you inflate the sides and back of the helmet.
For a correct fit you need to pump about 3 times, but that can vary. If too much air gets into the liner, you can let it escape again with the valve.
When properly inflated, the helmet will sit snugly against the player's head, but not too tight.
Then repeat the process for the top hole on the back of the helmet. For a good fit you need to pump about twice, but again that can vary.
When the helmet sits properly on the player's head, the front of the helmet should be approximately 1 inch (2,5 cm) above the eyebrows.
